Washington County Celebrates America’s 250th Birthday
America’s 250th anniversary is here, and Washington County is joining communities across the nation in celebrating this historic milestone. Through the America 250 Washington County initiative, residents and visitors can take part in a variety of events that honor the founding of the United States while highlighting the unique history and spirit of Southern Utah.
Communities throughout Washington County—including St. George, Washington, Hurricane, Santa Clara, Ivins, La Verkin, and others—are hosting concerts, educational programs, historical presentations, family activities, and patriotic celebrations. Featured events include the Texas Tenors in Concert, Family Night in Ivins, Santa Clara’s America 250 Lecture Series, and special programs at Liberty Village in Hurricane.
The America 250 celebration commemorates the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence and encourages Americans to reflect on the nation’s past, celebrate the present, and look toward the future. Washington County’s events provide opportunities for families, history enthusiasts, and community members to come together and be part of this once-in-a-generation celebration.
