The surviving members of Nirvana played a surprise concert at a small bar called St. Vitus in Brooklyn late Thursday night (April 10th), following the band’s induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. According to the New York Post, only 250 “close friends and insiders” were invited to the show, at which drummer Dave Grohl, bassist Krist Novoselic and guitarist Pat Smear performed a full set of Nirvana classics.

  • The concert, which started at 2:00 a.m., saw Nirvana joined by the same performers who sang with them at the Hall of Fame induction — Joan JettSonic Youth‘s Kim Gordonand Annie Clark, a.k.a. St. Vincent, — as well as Deer Tick‘s John McCauley and Dinosaur Jr.‘s J. Mascis.
  • Raw video footage of the show has made its way online. It was reportedly filmed professionally as well, although there’s no indication of whether it will be released.
  • Nirvana was inducted into the Hall of Fame by Michael Stipe of R.E.M.. Novoselic and Grohl were joined onstage by Courtney Love, widow of late Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain, as well as Cobain’s mother and sister.
  • At the induction, Jett joined the band for a performance of “Smells Like Teen Spirit,” while Clark performed “Lithium”, and Gordon performed “Aneurysm.” They were followed byLorde, who came out to sing “All Apologies.”

Rob Zombie will appear as a special guest judge on Spike TV’s hit reality competition series, Ink Master, on Tuesday, (April 15th) at 10:00 p.m. ET/PT. Zombie will be tasked with deciding the fate of eight finalists out to create the most memorable and impressive tattoo. The show is a weekly competition series where tattoo artists from around the country battle it out for a $100,000 grand prize, an editorial feature in Inked magazine and the title of “Ink Master.” The series is hosted by Jane’s Addiction guitarist Dave Navarro.
