Deep Purple’s Ian Gillan isn’t a fan of the term “classic rock.” The singer tells Australia’s “100 Percent Rock” magazine that once an artist has been “branded” with the label “you might as well stop,” calling it a “tombstone ’round your neck.” Ouch.
I see his point. I mean DP has a new album on the way and a slate of tour dates this year. But what else are we supposed to call it? Ideas?
Deep Purple’s upcoming album is scheduled to hit stores on April 30th. The band will launch their 2013 tour with an appearance at the Dubai Jazz Festival on February 21st. Deep Purple will then travel to New Zealand to kick off a co-headlining tour with Journey in Auckland on February 24th.
